About Me...

Hello parents and students!

My name is Abe Wofse and I am an English Language support teacher at Loring Elementary. The 2014-2015 school year will be my first year teaching at Loring Elementary, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with so many wonderful and motivated students!

I will be supporting our ELL students in grades 1, 3, and 4 during their classroom instruction and in small groups.  I am passionate about student success by helping our ELL students improve their academic English and grow as thoughtful individuals. I look forward to learning about my students and their interests so the classroom can reflect what is important to them as they grow and learn! I am also a strong advocate for social justice and hope to help ELL students find their voices to advocate for themselves.

I completed my ELL teaching certificate from Hamline University in May 2014 where I did my student teaching in St Paul and Robbinsdale. In 2009 I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Youth Studies.

While the 2014-2015 school year is my first year teaching, I have been supporting ELL students in the Minneapolis Public Schools for the past 4 years as both an AmeriCorps member and classroom aide.

I am also an avid traveler and have lived abroad for years in Europe, Africa, and in Central America. I enjoy learning about many different cultures and believe that travel is a great way to learn about ourselves, too!

Thank you and feel free to email me with questions Abe.Wofse@mpls.k12.mn.us
