Welcome to Grade 3 at Loring Community School

Welcome to 3rd grade for the 2018-19 School Year!

Ms. Eller, Ms. Roiland, and Ms. Siverson-Hall are super excited to be working with 3rd grade students and their families this year.

Some general things to know as we get going this year:

     * Folders are typically sent home on Wednesdays.  Please check back packs for important information from both your child's classroom and the front office.

     * Homework will begin around conference time once we know our students and their needs better.  In the mean time, your child benefits greatly by reading for at least 20 minutes a day- either alone or to someone.  Set a time and space for them to enjoy reading. Take time to ask questions about what they read.

     * Practice real life math with your Loring scholar.   Cooking, telling time, shopping, adding items on a list, making groups of things.  Students need successful adding and subtracting strategies up to 3 digit numbers to begin the year.   Math is everywhere- help your child see that and develop skills.

     * We are working on several field trips that will take place throughout the year.  Look for more information as we get destinations and dates set up.

     *  Email is a great way to communicate with your child's teacher.  Send them an email to get connected early in the year.

     * Come see us and visit your child.  We love to have parents join us for our learning- we hope to see you throughout the year.

We are looking forward to a great year with our new students and families.
