Welcome to Loring Community School and Physical Education. I have been teaching with the Minneapolis Public School system for twenty-five years, with the past seventeen years at Loring. I believe I have one of the best jobs in the world.

Physical Education at Loring consists of equal time dedicated to improving the students’ skills in the areas of Games, Dance, Gymnastics and Fitness. The focus with the elementary age student is to teach skills in a safe, secure, and positive environment. All skills can be performed at different levels of difficulty and with varying degrees of quality. Student progress is evaluated through skills and learning experiences considered developmentally appropriate at grade level and designed to meet the Physical Education Standards.

I earned a B.S. in Physical Education, DAPE, and Coaching from North Dakota University in Fargo, North Dakota. My Masters in Education was received through St. Mary's University. I enjoy, and have played sports of all varieties, for as long as I can remember and currently play in a women's hockey league. I have coached and officiated at both the high school and college level.

I am very proud of my three children. Tyler is 19. He loves playing Lacrosse. He played on a traveling lacrosse team this summer. Our daughter Emma is 15. She fills her time outside of school by acting in plays.  Noah, age 10 in October, will be starting fourth grade this fall. He is very excited.

Loring School has a wellness committee that works with our community to support healthy living. Some of the activities the Wellness Committee is involved in are Healthy School Program, Minne-Loppet Cross Country Ski Program, School Yard Garden and P.A.L.A.
