Literacy Specialist

Hello!  My name is Morgan Stangl, and this is my fifth year at Loring School in the role of Literacy Specialist.  My job is to provide support to staff as they continually evolve their practice as literacy teachers.  On any given day I might present new strategies to teachers, guide staff study groups, observe in classrooms and provide feedback, teach lessons while the teacher observes, plan and teach lessons alongside teachers, or help them find resources. As I work with teachers, I'll be in the classrooms working with and getting to know the students.  This is, without a doubt, the best part of my job!  I am excited to share my knowledge of and passion for literacy education with the staff, students, and families of Loring School.

I grew up in Montana and first came to Minnesota as a student at Carleton College.  I moved to Chicago immediately after graduating to pursue my Master of Arts in Teaching from National Louis University through a partnership with The Academy for Urban School Leadership. I taught for 5 years on the South and West Sides of Chicago before returning to Minnesota.  Previously, I taught in Savage while working towards the requirements for a Minnesota Reading License at the University of Minnesota.

I live in St. Louis Park with my husband Matt, five-year old son, Eli and 3 year old daughter, Cora.

If you have any questions about how to help your child, feel free to contact me.  I'm happy to share at-home strategies for supporting your child's growth as a reader and writer.
