The Sheridan Story at Loring Community School

Over 200,000 children in Minnesota live in food insecurity and do not always know if they will receive their next meal. At Loring School, we know that kids who are hungry have a hard time learning. We want to respond to this need by closing the weekend food gap between Friday and Monday, when children are not able to participate in the free or reduced meal programs at school.

The National Council of Jewish Women - Minneapolis, in partnership with The Sheridan Story and Loring Community School will be delivering bags filled with 4-5 pounds of healthy, shelf stable foods each Friday during the school year. Participation is optional, voluntary and completely confidential. Bags of food will be placed discreetly directly into students’ backpacks.
