Unit One - Living Systems




    Unit 1 --- Grade 3 --- Science --- Living Systems

    In this unit students will learn that plants and animals can be classified based on their characteristics and behaviors and these diverse characteristics can be classified as essential for survival, growth, or reproduction.

    Plant and animal offspring inherit characteristics from both parents and also acquire physical and behavioral characteristics during their lifetimes.  These characteristics can help the plant or animal to survive and reproduce in their environment.





      2.1   I can analyze the structures that help living things reproduce, grow and survive.

      2.2   I can compare the characteristics, structures and behaviors of plants and animals. 

      2.3   I can articulate the similarities and differences between inherited and acquired characteristics. 

      2.4   I can give examples of differences among individuals that help them reproduce and survive.
