I began teaching at Loring Community School in September 2007 and have enjoyed working here. I worked as a special education teacher in Minneapolis from 1994 to 1997 and 2003 to the present. From 1997 to 2000 I worked as a special education teacher in Cairo, Egypt. From 2000 to 2003 I provided day care in my home and stayed home with my son and daughter, now 20 and 18. I graduated in 1994 with a Masters in Special Education from the University of Minnesota. Some of my favorite things to do are swimming, biking, hiking, camping, and traveling. Next year will bring a big change in my life. Both of my children will live out of the house, at least for the school year. I'm looking forward to the time I will be able to spend preparing for my students at Loring.
I enjoy working with students. I have worked with kids in some form or another from the time I began babysitting at age 12. I have worked as a camp counselor, life guard, and youth group leader. I really enjoy working with students in small group settings. I believe in continuous educational and social growth. All children (and adults) are learners. I like to help students build on the skills they already have.
Currently, I am providing academic and social skills support.
