Dear Loring Minne-Loppet Ski Parents:

Loring Minne-Loppet Ski is in full swing and kids have been doing skiing-related activities nearly every week since Thanksgiving. They have been learning the basics of cross country skiing and nutrition, and we are already approaching the final weeks of the program.

On Saturday February 2, 2019 your child is invited to participate in the City of Lakes Minne-Loppet to celebrate their accomplishment. This event is a non-competitive ski experience for youth ages 3-12. The event occurs on Lake Calhoun, starting and finishing at the Lake Calhoun Center at 4:00 p.m. In addition, a special opportunity to experience fun kids’ events is available at the Minnesota Youth Ski League Super Carnival before the Minne-Loppet.

We have arranged for buses to transport students and chaperones to the Minne-Loppet event site from the school. The schedule for the afternoon is as follows:

● 2:15 -2:30 pm Gather at Loring to get boots and be ready for the event (Please use door #1(parking lot))
● 2:30 pm Buses depart for Minne-Loppet Event
● 4:00 pm Minne-Loppet Event starts
● 5:00 - 5:30 pm Students arrive back at Loring School

All students must wear warm mittens/gloves, winter coat and snow pants.  Ms. D has extra pairs of snow pants students can borrow.  An official Minne-Loppet ski hat will be given to each skier.  We invite and encourage any parents/guardians to join their students on the bus to the event because parking is very limited there.  Also, parents may drive their students to the Lake Calhoun Center if they wish. ALL Second Graders must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.

Please fill in the Minne-Loppet registration form and return it to your child’s homeroom teacher or PE teacher if you plan on having your child participate. All registration forms must be signed by parents in order for their child to participate. Please return signed forms by as soon as possilbe.

We hope to see many of you at the Minne-Loppet!

Ms. D
