Happy New Year!
This year is our 7th year at Loring Community School and the 4th year of our program in the Schoolyard Garden. Throughout the years, we have cultivated many new friendships at school, in the garden and throughout the community.  We look forward to the joys that each season brings and fulfilling dreams with new opportunities and projects.
One of our joys is an honor given by the
Minnesota Children's Defense Fund.
Kids Cook Classroom is recognized as
 Stars of the State
Building Blocks for Healthy Kids.
Minnesota Children's Defense Fund
The teachers at Loring will learn about the "Bridge to Benefits" program for
their families.

Each year our program has grown and
new projects have been developed.
This winter we are teaching nutrition and wellness classes in a program granted to Loring with the Nordic Ski Foundation.
As children learn to cross-country ski with the ski foundation coaches, Kids Cook volunteers connect healthy eating to well being!  We will also teach cooking classes to students and their parents.  Programs like this need to be continued.  We are so grateful for a grant through Medica and the Nordic Ski Foundation for giving us this opportunity to volunteer with the Nordic Ski Coaches and the Loring Physical Education teacher.
As we look into the new year, we know that Kids Cook Classroom Roots are Deep!  We so appreciate your spirit, enthusiasm and donations.
We invite you to an evening of our cooking classes, or join us at 3:00
with the Children's Defense Fund
on January 19th.
Our Kids Cook Dinner with the City of Lakes Loppet on February 16th will replace our Annual Feast Dinner and Cake Auction.
This year we will "Celebrate in the Garden" with a Harvest Feast and
Cake and Pie Auction.
Look for the announcement of the date!

This winter we are writing and developing  workshops and family days in the garden.  We stay warm with thoughts of farmers and animals visiting the Loring Schoolyard Garden.  We dream about sunshine, an outdoor kitchen similar to the picture. We hope that many more children will eat healthy meals from the garden!

Warmth and Good Health to All,
Kids Cook Classroom
