Loring pushed to create playgrounds as safe places for Minneapolis children to play. He was also instrumental in creating Victory Memorial Drive where the school is located. Pictured are Loring Students by the Victory Memorial Drive Flagpole, 1930.

In 1921, Loring donated money for and dedicated the planting of 561 trees along the parkway to commemorate Minnesota veterans who died in World War I. Pictured is Victory Memorial Drive, 1945.
