Adopt Loring Schoolyard Garden this Summer

School and Community families are needed to “Adopt the Garden” for 1 week this summer, beginning on Sunday June 11th and ending on Sunday September 24th. 15 weeks, 15 families! Choose a week to water, weed and help maintain Loring Schoolyard Garden. Your family will enjoy harvesting “The Pick of the Week” and it’s fun to invite friends or even a new family at school or on the block to help. Inviting a new family to garden with you introduces them to the program and helps to sustain Loring Schoolyard Garden and Kids Cook Classroom activities. Each week there are different gardening projects that need to be done, and a different “Part of the Plant” to pick, take home to eat!

Your family will receive an email from Robin at Kids Cook Classroom with “Projects and Picks of the week”. We’ll kick off “Adopt the Schoolyard Garden” with a Pot Luck Picnic on Sunday, June 11th. Join Starla and Robin Krause in the Schoolyard for Cooking and Gardening Workshops, and bring a healthy recipe to share for a Pot Luck Picnic. At the workshops we’ll share gardening tips, and answer questions about caring for the garden. We’ll harvest the “Pick of the Week” and prepare 1 or 2 recipes from Kids Cook Classroom.

Let Ms. Robin know which week/weeks your family
